Carbon Balance Model

This is an interactive model that represents the atmospheric carbon level as affected by human activities. It is a large balance scale with the amount of carbon the biosphere uptakes per week on one end and a variety of human activities and products on the other end represented by different weights. Participants can arrange these weights along the scale to represent how frequently these activities are done. On the side of the biosphere, they can add various methods to sequester carbon, like preserving rainforest, switching to organic food, recycling, planting trees, composting, creating biochar. We are using what we have found to be the best estimates of carbon footprint.
